Baby Einstein pays off!!!

Well, I hate to say poor Molly has had to watch her Baby Einstein dvd's way more than usual as of late. We have just had to have some way to entertain so we can pack. Well, tonight before she went to bed. She waved at Greg. Greg said, "wave".... and she did it again. Way cool!!!

Mahna-Mahna Molly

Molly with her Valentine goodie from Daddy. :)

Molly is 8 months old!

Molly turned 8 months old yesterday. It is hard to believe. We are in the middle of packing, and getting ready to move 9 hours away. We will be back soon, and Molly will be a bit older. She changes so much everyday.
Cheers!

On the Move...

If we had one of those walkers like when I was a baby, Molly would be all over the house. They are banned here in Canada, so we just have the exersaucer, which is basically the same concept except without wheels. If I have Molly sitting on my lap, and I am holding her. She wants to slide off my legs, and start walking. So I get up, and walk her around. She is getting really good at it. She slips on the laminate floors, but she is getting better. I wished we could get one of those walkers, but we would have to bring it in from the states.

Molly is not crawling yet, but she is getting there. Pico will lie next to her, and before we know it, she will flip around , and try to get him. She has managed to get a few handfuls of fur. Poor Pico doesn't seem to mind, as he loves the attention...something he gets too little of these days.

Molly is really developing mentally. She is so smart. The toys we got for her at 6 months of age, she is really trying to figure out how they work. You can see her trying to work it out. Last night, even though she wasn't doing it perfectly she was trying to put her shaped blocks through the appropriate cutouts.

It is the most amazing thing watching her grow.

Product Reviews

I thought it would be a good idea to write some product reviews of things we have gotten , and used with Molly.

AVENT bottle system- This is the top of the line for bottles these days, and on the high end of the price range. While, they are a good bottle, they have one flaw that I have found, and that is if you don't screw the rings on *just* so then it leaks like a sieve.

Fisher Price Link-A-Doos Musical Play Garden- This is a cute little play mat. I have found that most play mats here run in the $60-$70 range. This was on the high end of the range. I felt it was a bit overpriced, but she has enjoyed it. It comes with a few attachable toys, which she really hasn't played with. You can buy additional toys to attach. It doesn't travel well.

Tiny Love Noak's Ark Gymini Deluxe-this is a great play mat. It was given to us as a gift on the same day I purchased the Link-a-doos Play Garden. It has detachable toys, and folds up nice to go into a plastic cover with a handle. This mat travels really well. I highly recommend this mat. It is a bit pricey as most of the mats are. You can buy additonal toys to attach.

Fisher Price Brilliant Basics Line of toys- We have several toys from this line, and are quite happy with our choices. Molly seems to enjoy these the most. They are very reasonably priced.

Fisher Price Link-A-Doos Infant to Toddler Rocker We have really used this product. We don't attach the toys to it so much anymore. It has come in handy for so many times, and it can be used throughout the house. You can use any of the link-a-doos toys with this or the play garden. It was reasonably priced, and considering you can use this from infant to toddler it is worth every cent.

Baby Einstein DVD's & VHS Tapes- These are the greatest. Molly just loves watching her Baby Einstein DVD's & Tapes. She only has about 4 of them. We will definitely be getting more of them. You can rent them from the library, and find them used online on craigslist.org if you don't want to spend full price. She has some of their other products, but these are her favorite.

The Original Jolly Jumper Molly loves to bounce in her jolly jumper. It is a bit awkward getting her in, and out of it. We got her jumper second hand, but they are priced a bit high to me for what you get. We don't use the door clamp, as we don't have a proper door frame. I don't think we would use it anyhow, as it looks like it wouldn't be stable. We have hung it from a very sturdy ceiling hook. If you child loves to jump, and bounce then I do recommend getting one.

Teaching Molly to use a sippy cup

Well, we have been trying to teach Molly to use a sippy cup the last little while. I tried when she was first 6 months old, but that failed. We had the AVENT trainer cup, and thought it would work well since she used the AVENT bottle system. Well, she really has struggled with it. So out of desperation, I picked up a Gerber sippy cup to try. Well, she has really picked up on drinking from it much better than the other. I haven't tried the AVENT trainer cup again since we tried the Gerber. I imagine once she gets the hang of it, then she should be able to drink from both. She will be 8 months old on the 11th!!! I can't believe it.

????

Ok, Molly slept through the night last night, and didn't get up at all? So, now I don't know what to think. She went nearly a week of getting up 1-2 times a night. So we will see if she sleeps through tonight.

UPDATE:

She didn't sleep though the night I posted this, but she did the next night.
We think we have narrowed it down to not eating enough during the day.
I will have fed her three meals, plus her formula in between, and a snack by the time she goes to bed tonight. So we will see if she sleeps through again tonight.
