Baby Gate time...

Well, Greg and I purchased our first baby gate yesterday. Molly is getting pretty efficient at her little inch worm crawl. She crawled from her bedroom to the hall yesterday. I was right with her, but we decided that it was for sure time. The other day she surprised us by crawling a good 6 feet from where I had her playing in the living room. I was cooking dinner, and watching her...well, to my surprise I turned my head to see that she was still playing where I left her, and she wasn't there. She had crawled out of view! We were so surprised. She is growing so fast!

Except we still don't have any upper TEETH!!!!

Teething!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Poor Molly is having a hard time with these next teeth. She is suffering for it pretty badly this go around...drool diarrhea, diaper rash, fever, and waking up at night, and of course the usual buckets of drool. I hope she cuts those teeth soon, her little bottom is in overtime. :( She cut her first tooth at 6 months...now it is 3 months later. It is about time. She will probably be one of these kids that cuts a few, and then goes awhile. Lovely! :)

Molly is headstrong that is for sure!

Well, there is no doubt about it...Molly is stubborn, and she gets it from me. She is very persistent, determined and curious as well. I hope that she keeps up the persistence, and determination for some aspects of her life. :) Her newest thing is that she does not want in her exersaucer much...She will even draw her legs up to avoid being put in it. She is a tricksy little one. :)

Molly Updates...

The day after Molly turned 9 months, we had a small incident. She decided to take a tumble off our bed, and hit her face. She scuffed up her nose, but she is no worse for wear. I had put her on our bed, and surrounded her with pillows thinking that this would corral her long enough for me to run down the stair for her pacifier. I was sadly mistaken. I heard the thud as I was bounding back up the stairs. It was that quick. I felt horrible, and I know she did. I guess I have learned my lesson on that, and she won't be left unattended where she could hurt herself. Since I started this draft on the 14th...her nose is completely healed. The scab fell of two or three days ago.

She is really talkative these days. She really gives Greg, and I a talking too sometimes. I wonder what she is getting on to us about?
She is so expressive these days too. We are easily amused with her cute expressions, and antics. :)

She is definitely teething again, and is trying hard to push some more teeth through. We haven't had any new teeth in a couple of months or more. She was very fussy, and whiny today. the whining really bugs me. It drains my energy, and patience faster than anything. I just wished I knew what I could do to ease her discomfort. I gave her some Tylenol, and I cuddled with her on our bed, and she fell asleep in my arms.

She weighs close to 20lbs now, and growing everyday. She is in a size 12 months in most things already! :) She has been pretty much on the mark for her clothing sizes up until she became 6 months old.

Molly is clapping, and waving now. She is so cute when we go out, she will wave, and smile at people as we go by. She is such a social baby. :)

I am going to try to find her a new physician next week, so we can get her a check up. She hasn't had one since she was 6 months. We have had a very healthy baby. She has only had two colds thus far.
She is still trying to crawl, but is inch worming it for now. :)

That is about it for now.

Molly tries grits for the first time...

Molly shuns her Southern Heritage!!! To say the least grits are not a hit at this time. They were just plain old instant cheese this time, with no butter or salt for obvious reasons.

I guess we will try again when she can have them the right way :) The video is priceless! :)

YUM!

How Sweet !!!

This afternoon Molly, and I went for a walk downtown. I decided to stop in the Shopper's Drugmart because Molly has some chaffing on her face from her being sick, and the cold weather. I was waiting in line to talk to the pharmacist, and I was talking to this nice lady. All of a sudden, Molly waved to her. It was the cutest, sweetest thing. She is sooo smart! :)

A new milestone!!!!

Well, a lot has happened in the time since I last posted. Molly is crawling more or less. She is still not crawling on all fours yet, but she is getting there.

Yesterday was a very big day! I had to go downstairs to retrieve my cellphone, and I put Molly in her crib in a seated position.

I was gone no more than 40 seconds, and when I came back up the stairs, and went into her room. She was standing in her crib holding on to the side!!!! I screamed with happiness, and she smiled from ear to ear. She knew she had done something good. :)

It was very exciting. She has shown a little interest on sitting on her knees with help, and pulling up on me, but nothing like this, and definitely not by herself!

Anyhow, we are getting unpacked, and settled. I hope to have a whole bunch of new things to post soon. She is at a very exciting age. :)

Baby Einstein pays off!!!

Well, I hate to say poor Molly has had to watch her Baby Einstein dvd's way more than usual as of late. We have just had to have some way to entertain so we can pack. Well, tonight before she went to bed. She waved at Greg. Greg said, "wave".... and she did it again. Way cool!!!

Mahna-Mahna Molly

Molly with her Valentine goodie from Daddy. :)

Molly is 8 months old!

Molly turned 8 months old yesterday. It is hard to believe. We are in the middle of packing, and getting ready to move 9 hours away. We will be back soon, and Molly will be a bit older. She changes so much everyday.
Cheers!

On the Move...

If we had one of those walkers like when I was a baby, Molly would be all over the house. They are banned here in Canada, so we just have the exersaucer, which is basically the same concept except without wheels. If I have Molly sitting on my lap, and I am holding her. She wants to slide off my legs, and start walking. So I get up, and walk her around. She is getting really good at it. She slips on the laminate floors, but she is getting better. I wished we could get one of those walkers, but we would have to bring it in from the states.

Molly is not crawling yet, but she is getting there. Pico will lie next to her, and before we know it, she will flip around , and try to get him. She has managed to get a few handfuls of fur. Poor Pico doesn't seem to mind, as he loves the attention...something he gets too little of these days.

Molly is really developing mentally. She is so smart. The toys we got for her at 6 months of age, she is really trying to figure out how they work. You can see her trying to work it out. Last night, even though she wasn't doing it perfectly she was trying to put her shaped blocks through the appropriate cutouts.

It is the most amazing thing watching her grow.

Product Reviews

I thought it would be a good idea to write some product reviews of things we have gotten , and used with Molly.

AVENT bottle system- This is the top of the line for bottles these days, and on the high end of the price range. While, they are a good bottle, they have one flaw that I have found, and that is if you don't screw the rings on *just* so then it leaks like a sieve.

Fisher Price Link-A-Doos Musical Play Garden- This is a cute little play mat. I have found that most play mats here run in the $60-$70 range. This was on the high end of the range. I felt it was a bit overpriced, but she has enjoyed it. It comes with a few attachable toys, which she really hasn't played with. You can buy additional toys to attach. It doesn't travel well.

Tiny Love Noak's Ark Gymini Deluxe-this is a great play mat. It was given to us as a gift on the same day I purchased the Link-a-doos Play Garden. It has detachable toys, and folds up nice to go into a plastic cover with a handle. This mat travels really well. I highly recommend this mat. It is a bit pricey as most of the mats are. You can buy additonal toys to attach.

Fisher Price Brilliant Basics Line of toys- We have several toys from this line, and are quite happy with our choices. Molly seems to enjoy these the most. They are very reasonably priced.

Fisher Price Link-A-Doos Infant to Toddler Rocker We have really used this product. We don't attach the toys to it so much anymore. It has come in handy for so many times, and it can be used throughout the house. You can use any of the link-a-doos toys with this or the play garden. It was reasonably priced, and considering you can use this from infant to toddler it is worth every cent.

Baby Einstein DVD's & VHS Tapes- These are the greatest. Molly just loves watching her Baby Einstein DVD's & Tapes. She only has about 4 of them. We will definitely be getting more of them. You can rent them from the library, and find them used online on craigslist.org if you don't want to spend full price. She has some of their other products, but these are her favorite.

The Original Jolly Jumper Molly loves to bounce in her jolly jumper. It is a bit awkward getting her in, and out of it. We got her jumper second hand, but they are priced a bit high to me for what you get. We don't use the door clamp, as we don't have a proper door frame. I don't think we would use it anyhow, as it looks like it wouldn't be stable. We have hung it from a very sturdy ceiling hook. If you child loves to jump, and bounce then I do recommend getting one.

Teaching Molly to use a sippy cup

Well, we have been trying to teach Molly to use a sippy cup the last little while. I tried when she was first 6 months old, but that failed. We had the AVENT trainer cup, and thought it would work well since she used the AVENT bottle system. Well, she really has struggled with it. So out of desperation, I picked up a Gerber sippy cup to try. Well, she has really picked up on drinking from it much better than the other. I haven't tried the AVENT trainer cup again since we tried the Gerber. I imagine once she gets the hang of it, then she should be able to drink from both. She will be 8 months old on the 11th!!! I can't believe it.

????

Ok, Molly slept through the night last night, and didn't get up at all? So, now I don't know what to think. She went nearly a week of getting up 1-2 times a night. So we will see if she sleeps through tonight.

UPDATE:

She didn't sleep though the night I posted this, but she did the next night.
We think we have narrowed it down to not eating enough during the day.
I will have fed her three meals, plus her formula in between, and a snack by the time she goes to bed tonight. So we will see if she sleeps through again tonight.

*yawn*

Well, Molly is still getting up during the night. We tried one night to see if she would just go back to sleep on her own, but as it turned out, she need a diaper change badly. She was also really hungry. She hasn't been eating very good during the day the last few days. I don't know if she is trying to cut her top teeth now, or what the problem is. Anyhow, our sleep schedule has been greatly compromised. She has had us spoiled until now. :D

Change in sleep patterns...

Molly has been waking up around 11pm for the last few days. Last night it was a little later...around 1a.m. I am not sure what has caused this change in sleep pattern. I usually give her a bottle, and she goes back to sleep. This in no way has changed her from getting up early. She has been getting up between 4:30a.m. and 6:30a.m. for a few weeks now. She naps good during the day, so I am not sure what is up. I did read that babies her age, or a little older will start to wake up more because they feel they are missing out on something. I hope this is just a phase, and she goes back to sleeping through the night.

She got up at midnight, and again at 2:45a.m. We are going to try not getting her up, and just seeing if she will fall back asleep. I am wiped today. :(

I had a feeling...

Feeding Molly solids has had it challenges that is for certain. Some days are better than others, and the amount of messiness varies. Some days she barely gets anything on her at all.

I decided to feed her in just her diaper last night, and I guess it was a good call. She managed to hit the spoon several times, and fling food all over her, and me. I am usually not amused with this, but I had to laugh.

I think she just wanted to take a bath on purpose. :) She loves the water. So she got her way. A bath was going to be the only way I got all the little bits off of her.

It will be an interesting site when she will be able to feed herself. I know my brother was quite the messy eater as a baby. I believe my mom said he would hook his toes on the edge of the tray, and rub his dinner plate on his head when he was done.

:)
